As part of our recognition of March being National Nutrition Month, the A’viands Nutrition & Wellness Department will be offering a “Tip of the Day” as much as possible during the month. The tip is meant to inspire you to try new foods, incorporate healthier foods into your diet and increase your awareness of your overall health.

How about adding some beans to your plate? Your plate should be half of fruits and vegetables. Beans, such as black beans, pinto beans or kidney beans are the perfect choice because they are high in fiber which keeps you full longer and are loaded with protein. A half cup serving of beans provides 6-7 grams of dietary fiber as well as many essential minerals including iron, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, zinc and calcium.
